147kg on Hayman Reese Scales after Santa Fe R and jayco Discovery reloaded.
Ballweight hiccup but Santa's Sleigh Santa Fe R comes through with relaxed, fuel efficient towing
GoSee got the ballweight wrong on our 2416km plus tow tug evaluation with the new Green R Hyundai Santa Fe R auto diesel. Hyundai says 150kg maximum ballweight.

But a weighbridge check shows we had 170kg.

So we trimmed our rig. We used our Hayman Reese digital scales and checked the Jayco Discovery ballweight again. This time 147kg.

Just under the Hyundai 150kg towball down-weight maximum and 436Nm torque from the 2.2 diesel feed smoothly to solid road grip through the Santa Fe R's traction control.

Willing Hyundai shows poise as GoSee takes Slippery When Wet coastal touring route
After four days and 793km of towing the Green R Hyundai Santa Fe R 2.2 auto diesel is doing particularly well with fuel use figures ranging from 10.58 to 12.5 litres per 100 km.

The Jayco Discovery pop-top caravan is a good match for the Hyundai Santa Fe R and follows the Hyundai's lead.

Ten points to the engineers who put the poise in the Santa Fe R diesel design. It loves to work.

Green R Santa Fe R tow tug shows serious grunt in Clyde Mountain test climb
Day 7 of extended practical evaluation and GoSee is impressed with the Green R Santa Fe R and its serious sustained tow tug grunt on one of Australia's real towing test tracks.

Clyde Mountain on the Kings Highway route from Batemans Bay NSW to Canberra ACT is no place for tow tug pretenders and the Santa Fe R shows itself as a bulldog with big torque teeth for its type.

Caravan and RV Leave no Trace drive faces Dump Point issues as Australian road travel growth pressures environment
There is only one public Dump Point for thousands of road touring caravans and Recreational Vehicles (RV's) which travel between Melbourne and Sydney on the arterial Hume Highway route.

The Dump-Ezy unit is in a caravan park which subscribes to the view that Australian road travellers should Leave no Trace and allows it to be used free.

GoSee found it at Holbrook Motor Village run by Trevor and Sharon Liddell. The easy access caravan park is a member of the Top Tourist Parks of Australia chain.

NSW trails stamp duty free states with significantly higher caravan rego
NSW is still the most expensive of Australia's stamp duty free states in which to register a caravan or camper.

Only the ACT charges higher registration now that it has just dropped stamp duty.

It is certain that Australian RV buying and registration decisions are being coloured by this, probably with NSW buyers and sellers the losers.
